Experience the "Solitude of the Forest"

Waldeinsamkeit

Located on one of the unique geological formations – the drumlins of the Northern Finger Lakes created by the Ice Formation during the Pleistocene Glacial period – these narrow steep cigar shaped hills running north and south . Their ‘dirty’ little secret is they are basically the garbage dumps of the Ice Age. Spend your days scouring for unique stones transported here by the ice.

This stunning 80-acre property was most recently a Revolutionary War Land Grant in 1790 and has been continuously farmed since being  settled by the Chalkers. Acquiring the farm in the 1980s, we are the second family to be caretakers’ of this glorious property.

As you walk down the lane way through the woods along the creek to your left and glimpsing the pasture through the trees to the right and looking up into the old growth tree canopy towering 100’ into the sky above, you will be transported to another place. Along your way, you will notice markers for the shade loving Chinese Medicinal Herbs and the owner’s solar wind chime collection. As you descend to the park like clearing on the banks of Black Brook Creek, you will see the canvas "cottages" nestled into the Chinese Medicinal Herb Gardens under the majestic trees. Across the creek, you will notice lavender fields and woods. While to the east, you will see a serene pasture on the side of a drumlin with goats, sheep, and farm animals frolicking.
